To New Adventures and stuff like that!

I'm taking a cue from Mel and starting a blog. It was her idea first and I'll admit I'm stealing it fair and square.

As most of you know we have moved to Austin and as I've lived my entire life living on the mid-atlantic, most of this was in Philadelphia so this is all incredibly new to me. It is however the most daring, scaring and exciting thing I've ever done and in doing it with Mel and I couldn't ask for a better person to do it with.

I've always felt the need to explore the rest of this country and we have decided that this is the best time to do it. I love my family and I love my girlfriends family as well and leaving them was incredibly hard, a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. Leaving our friends was equally as difficult.

I'm not going to bore you with details about the drive from PA-Nashville-Austin, other than to tell you it is LONG! Nashville is a city I will definitely go back to. I'm glad we stopped and got to check out Broadway, lots of country bars and good music galore.

We fell in love with a singer-songer writer, Alecia Arnall at a bar called Whiskey Bent Saloon and didn't want to leave.

But we had to push forward and finish our journey into Texas, which I might add is as BIG as people say it is. We got into Texas around noon, didn't get to Austin until about 7. Thankfully, we drug Mel's stepdad Chris along and her friend from work India also came over to help us move everything in. So we unpacked our super large packed to the brim pod in the sweltering Austin heat on Friday night, instead of spending all day saturday doing so. We also got to meet our neighbors Dave and Mike and made quick friends.

Everyone is Austin has been super friendly and welcoming. I left my wallet on top of the car on Friday night and on Saturday, forgot it was up there as Mel and I drove to Target to grab things for breakfast, it flew off the top, unbeknownst to me. About 20 minutes later as I began to freak out that my wallet was missing, I got an email from Charles, a former co-worker at Genactis, telling me that somebody had found my wallet. This is the kind of shit I'm talking about. This guy, met up with me gave me my wallet and left everything in tact without wanting a reward.

Saturday night, to celebrate our arrival and the beginning of the end of our settling in, we took Chris to a place called Chuy's and had a fantastic meal.

Surprisingly there is a lot of Tex Mex places out here; who woulda thought :-) Barbeque is also a pretty rare find out here as well!

Goal #1 of my being out here was to find a job. Which I did surprisingly quickly, by Tuesday actually! So starting this coming tuesday I will be an account manager for a logistics company!

Goal #2 of course, was to find a Crossfit gym to fill in the space left open from KOP, certainly  not to replace it but fill in the space :-) I've been to CrossFit Woodward and CrossFit Westlake and Mel and I have both fallen in love with Westlake, the people over there are super nice and welcoming. This is not a dig to Woodward, they were also very nice but Westlake took it to another level. Of course my job is in Pflugerville, which is to the north and about 5 minutes from Woodward and Westlake is on the opposite end of the spectrum so to speak! I've got some deciding to do!

As our first week comes to a close it's been the adventure we thought it would be and more. We have met some good friends, and I really love it here.

I'm excited for what it's going to bring us and I'm excited about what we can bring to it. To give it a touch of Philly everywhere we can. Roots are roots and they aren't going anywhere!

'Til Next Time!
